The Day It Rained Hearts

Yesterday we read "The Day It Rained Hearts".

Then we began working on a craft to go along with the story.  The students colored an umbrella, cut it out and then glued it to construction paper.  During our writing time I did a shared lesson with the kids in which we all wrote "It rained ____ red hearts and ____ pink hearts.  There are ____ hearts in all."  They glued the writing down to the construction paper.  Then I gave them red and pink glitter stickers that I bought from the Dollar Tree.  They stuck these onto the construction paper and then solved the addition sentence.  They turned out really cute!

We also completed the following Color Sheets to review sight words.
